Dr. Bou Pediatrics is a trusted, patient-first pediatric practice serving families in the greater Tampa Bay area. Founded in 2002 by Dr. Salvador A. Bou-Gauthier, our practice has grown from a single-location family-run office into a multi-site operation known for its compassionate care, modern technology, and deep community roots. Founder & Medical Director

Over 30 years of Pediatric Excellence: Dr. Salvador A. Bou-Gauthier (fondly known to our families as Dr. Bou) has been practicing medicine since 1986 and serving the Tampa Bay area since 1993. Board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Bou has dedicated his career to providing compassionate, high-quality care to children. He is also fully bilingual in English and Spanish, allowing him to communicate effectively with a diverse community of patients.

A Trusted and Highly-Rated Pediatrician: As one of the area’s most experienced pediatricians, Dr. Bou is among the highest-rated in Tampa Bay. The practice has earned over 1,000 five-star reviews from parents across our Plant City and Wesley Chapel locations, reflecting his thoroughness, friendly bedside manner, and genuine care for every child. Families often praise how he takes time to explain everything clearly to both parents and kids, making them feel comfortable and heard.

Founder of Dr. Bou Pediatrics: In 2002, Dr. Bou realized his vision of a truly family-oriented pediatric practice by opening the first Dr. Bou Pediatrics office in Plant City. His goal was simple: create a welcoming, patient-first clinic where children are treated like family. Over the years, that single family-run office earned the trust of the community and grew in popularity. In 2018, with the help of his son, Sal, Dr. Bou expanded the practice to a second location in Wesley Chapel/New Tampa to serve even more families. Despite this growth, he ensured that the personal touch and high standards of care remained the same at both sites.

CEO, Medical Director & Mentor: Today, as Medical Director, Dr. Bou continues to see patients while also guiding the clinical team. He mentors our pediatricians and nurse practitioners, instilling the values of compassion, excellence, and teamwork. Under his leadership, Dr. Bou Pediatrics has even earned recognition as a Patient-Centered Medical Home, reflecting our commitment to coordinated, family-centered care. Dr. Bou sets the tone for our patient-first culture, emphasizing that every child who walks through our doors receives the kind of attention and care he would want for his own family.

On a personal note, Dr. Bou is a proud father of three and a beloved figure in the community. When he’s not caring for patients, he enjoys spending time with his family (and especially with his dog, Orwell) and staying active in local community events. His dedication both as a doctor and as a parent shapes the warm, family-friendly atmosphere that defines Dr. Bou Pediatrics.

Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Driving Growth and Innovation: Salvador H. Bou (Sal) is the Chief Operating Officer of Dr. Bou Pediatrics. Since joining the practice leadership in 2016, Sal has spearheaded the transformation of Dr. Bou Pediatrics from a single-location, family-run clinic into a thriving, data-driven, multi-site pediatric practice. Throughout this rapid growth, Sal has ensured that the practice never loses sight of its core mission: delivering personal, patient-focused care. His collaborative approach and strategic vision have not only expanded the practice’s reach but also enhanced the experience for both patients and staff.

Operational Excellence: With a background in engineering and business, Sal brings a problem-solving mindset to the healthcare field. He continuously seeks smart ways to improve operations and keep the practice running efficiently for the benefit of families. Some of Sal’s key contributions include:

• Optimized Scheduling: Implementing advanced scheduling systems and statistical forecasting models to predict appointment demand and minimize wait times. This ensures smooth patient flow year-round, allowing families to access care conveniently without long delays.

• Market & Growth Strategy: Conducting in-depth market analyses- combining population trends, insurance coverage data, and competitor insights- to identify prime areas for future expansion and ensure the long-term success of the practice.

• Financial Strategy & Stability: Strengthening the practice’s financial health through strategic budgeting, forecasting, and cost management. His financial strategies have led to improved billing processes, efficient resource allocation, and reinvestment into new services, technology, and staff development.

Leadership & Vision: As COO, Sal oversees all non-clinical operations- including finance, HR, IT, legal, and marketing. He has led the successful expansion into Wesley Chapel and continues to focus on enhancing patient access and operational efficiency. His data-driven decision-making translates into a better patient experience (such as shorter wait times and seamless visits) and a supportive work environment for the team. Sal also led the initiative for Dr. Bou Pediatrics to attain national recognition for quality, aligning daily operations with the high standards of a Patient-Centered Medical Home.

Personal Background and Passion: Sal earned his Bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Georgia Tech, where he graduated with honors. His engineering training sharpened his analytical skills and inventive thinking- skills he now applies to pediatric practice management. Before joining Dr. Bou Pediatrics, he worked in operations analysis at a Fortune 100 company in Atlanta, where he specialized in designing custom simulations of airport terminals to advise strategic partners. His ability to analyze complex systems has been instrumental in optimizing patient flow and business operations at Dr. Bou Pediatrics.

Though based in New York City, Sal frequently travels to Tampa to oversee operations and ensure the continued success of the practice. He also consults with other medical practices, providing guidance on stabilizing and growing their businesses.

Outside of his professional work, Sal is passionate about coding custom Python applications to solve business challenges, staying informed on space news, and reading sci-fi. He also has a deep love for electronic music and enjoys playing video games like Zelda and Cities: Skylines. As a licensed private pilot, Sal enjoys traveling and experiencing new cultures- hobbies that reflect his adventurous spirit.
